Chakra Meditation Technique and Research Study

Everything is energy and energy flows where attention goes. We human beings have a subtle body of three energy channels - the three Nadi's and seven energy centres- the chakras. The dormant energy at the root of this system is the creative maternal energy the kundalini which is a nurturing and protective power when it’s awakened.

Chakra is a Sanskrit word meaning wheel, disk or cycle. Chakras are the spinning vortexes of energy emanating from the major nerve ganglia branching forward; the network through which mind, body and spirit interact as one system located along the spinal column from sacrum towards crown region; Muladhara being at the base of spine and Sahasrara at the crown region. Chakra meditation is concerning to the wheel like energy centres that belong to the subtle body which are intricately linked to endocrine glands and nervous system. The blood then absorbs this energy and distributes through the body. The names of the chakras are as follows: - Muladhara, Svadhistana, Manipura, Anahata, Vishuddha, Ajna, Sahasrara. Meditation on chakras under the guidance of guru is best.

Chakra meditation:-

•Sitting relaxed with spine straight one needs to relax the body from toe to top, part by part.

•Then focusing on the breath and feel the healing effect of breath by removing the toxin from the body through exhalation and nourishing all the muscles, organs and cells with every inhalation.

•Next is to feel the source of energy, the life force getting stronger and brighter with every inhalation and healing or energising the root chakra, the Muladhara and the next Svadhistana and so on to the Sahasrara in order.

•The process is to experience and executed with every chakra and see the aura becoming brighter and more apparent.

•Feel relaxed and gently open your eyes.

Research study:-

1) Research on chakra meditation specifically on root chakra was examined within a particular duration of time using Auramed Bio pulsar Reflex graph and ANOVA technique. The study was for 4 and eight weeks on 45 subjects of age group between 18-25. The results proved that four weeks and eight weeks was sufficient to bring a significant improvement on root chakra.

2) A study was aiming to observe the effect of meditation on eye centre, throat centre energy and the hemodynamic parameters. Twenty-six healthy individuals of age between 40-70 yrs participated in the study which was for nine days. Results showed increased power in eye and throat centre, increased consciousness in the body and that chakra energy does not depend on hemodynamic parameters. It has a positive effect on hemodynamics parameters due to activation of the parasympathetic state.

3) A study comparing the eye chakra with psychological symptoms suggested that the healthy functioning of eye chakra is related to low levels of psychological distress and vice versa

•Enhances physical resistance

•Emotional wellbeing

•Harmony in life

•Eradicating the root cause of disease in the mind

•Reduces tensions

•Improved positivity and a positive flow of energy.

•Calming effect on the mind

Note:- Individual energy of a person depends upon their postures, diet, thoughts as well on the energy field of the people with whom they are present. When chakras are blocked, it manifests as illness if left untreated. Therefore healthy functioning of the energy fields enables one to have sound health physically, emotionally as well spiritually.
